Yes it is different but it's more like a typical storage engine. I prefer COMSTAR over the iscsitgt service. For some it will be a challenge transitioning to it, but once COMSTAR is understood there is no issue. It's simply a better product and it will only improve as we progress with it. The target iqn is not really an access point its a connection to a set of LUNS. You can have as many as you want, it just can't transition from one target group to another while stmf is hot at this point and if this is something it should have then we need to provide our input to why this is important to us and it will be prioritized in the queue of work.
