I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm experience some performance
issue with 2 of the Western Digital drives in a RAIDZ with a Samsung 1.5TB.
After booting the machine I get decent performance (consulting iostat -xn
~100MB/s) on each of the three hdds. But after a few days it severely degrades
to 2-3MB/s on the WDs (iostat shows 100% busy) whereas the Samsung is okay -
rebooting the machine magically restores performance levels of ~100MB/s. I also
tried to export the pool and doing a sg_start --stop / --start, which also
helps to restore the performance of the WDs.
I thought it might be an issue with the temperature and therefore installed an
additional fan (however this didn't help). As I don't want to reboot the
machine nor want to zpool export; sg_start --stop --start; zpool import on a
daily schedule - do you have any better idea?
