Replacing 40+ disks is a difficult call, but having multiple disks go offline
and losing the zpool frequently made the decision easy.
I have had good results from some Seagate consumer disks, but due to supply
issues I am now looking for alternatives.

We have used 1TB WD-RE3 drives with very good results thus far, model
WD1002FBYS. We're not stuffing 40+ in any machines, but scrubs run
nice and quick across our dataset of striped mirrors.

According to the wdc.com website, "advanced format" isn't called out
on any of the RE3/RE4 models. Only half the Caviar Green models and a
single Caviar Blue seem to indicate this advanced format (physical 4KB
or something).
