Dear Tom

Thanks for that. The reason there are no cashew nut exports from Liberia is
because they have not yet been shown how to deal with the nut covering. The
trees were planted by a roving tribe known as the Crowshaw (crosha?) within
living memory. They were planted deliberately as an agricultural project to
give people access to the fruit. They are not native to Liberia.

>And in Brazil: Contact dermatitis caused by smoke from cashew nut shell oil
burning ...

Yup. That's the problem.

There was a power station north of Maputo that was fired with cashew nuts
and some of the local pottery is still fired that way. The kiln operators
say it has a very high heat.

Regards
Crispin
