Could not agree more Crispin, 

the problem is to get lots more of us to see that very point. 

On recognising that point, it then becomes an issue of  determining how to work 
with and not for the Francises' : 
If one manages to get inside Francis' reality they gain access to the thinking 
of the main  stove and solid biofuels market--but then they run the "risk" of 
seeing it through his eyes too. 

It seems that to understand the process is to become part of it is to change 
your definition of understanding.
Its at once, a wonderful and maddening  merri go round world , so called 
international development !
