Yes Eric, that's pretty incredible. I didn't notice there was a majority of the posters on either side of the stadium issue, but I admit to not counting noses. I didn't notice anyone anti-stadium attacking anyone pro-stadium, other than attacking the ISSUES of funding and whether or not a stadium was something we realistically want or need.

I noticed a couple carefully worded posts from Renee disparaging people for not addressing the subject she wanted them to address, which was what we wanted in an ideal stadium. Then she posted that she was going to ignore anyone who wasn't playing her "perfect stadium" game. Good for her. After that there was a little more anti-stadium ranting and then it died out, like these things do. For me the death knell on the issue was hearing that the city of Mnpls or someplace had brokered the deal and were going ahead with a stadium no matter what. Oh well. So they're going to build a stadium and I'll probably be taxed for it. I end up paying for a lot of things I'd rather not pay for. It's not like I'm going to move away because of the that. (move away because of the weather and culture - yes, that they're building a stadium - no)

More to the issue of what we want in this forum - I want a place where I can voice my opinion on issues without being attacked personally. My question about Renee's background was out of line. Perhaps I'm just a little dense, but it's taken me a little while to figure out that just about everyone here is a political activist of some sort. The Green Party meeting last Saturday that I dropped by kind of convinced me. The attendence list read like the membership of this forum! I initially came in expecting it to be more just a bunch of people in St. Paul who talked about their lives, their neighborhoods, their experiences, all kinds of things. Shared recipes, talked about movies and good coffee shops (I still intend to go by the Brewery Cafe, dang it!), bitched about the lousy roads and were as clueless as to which ward they were in as I was. Not so.

I can deal with that. But it is very different than expected. I feel like I'm hanging out with people who all work in the same company and it's not the one I work at.

Does anyone know a forum better suited to what I was expecting? I'm not saying I'm going to leave or anything (it's interesting to see who's doing what on the political scene, after all), but this stuff just isn't my cup of tea on a lot of fronts.
