St. Paul E-Democracy Discussion about
DISTRICT COUNCILS IN ST. PAUL
Brewery Cafe - 945 W 7th - April 14th - 7-9 PM

Tim and All:
I think what is most disturbing to me about the loss of the Planetarium is
that it may possibly cost as much to dismantle the Planetarium and make it
something else. I would think that perhaps if Como Elementary doesn't
have a pressing need for the space for some other purpose, it may make
sense to just keep it intact and hope for a better budgetary future.
I was surprised to note that many people I know, were unaware of the
Planetarium's existence. I live practically across the street from Como
Elementary and I knew about the Planetarium, but several teachers at the
school I work at in the district were unaware of its existence. I find
this most disheartening, when we have assets such as the Planetarium, this
should be widely publicized so it gets better use.
I am quite certain that people in the neighborhood would love to come and
use the facility and even if they opened it up in the evenings once in
awhile and publicized it, they would most likely draw a crowd.
Just some thoughts I had.
