MPAAT, MDH and BC/BS released results of a research study today which confirm what a lot of us have been saying all along:
Almost all workers in Minnesota are protected from 2nd hand smoke... except those in the hospitality industry. They looked at classroom, (98%) hospital, (91%) office, (89%) store or warehouse workers, (80%) factory workers, (74%) restaurants not serving alcohol, (67%) restaurants serving alcohol, (23%) and bars. (5%). With a very high percentage of restaurant workers not receiving health care insurance from their employers, I would have to conclude that these workers, often among the lowest paid among us, are at great risk of being made ill by their work... and their employer is taking a hands off approach. In other words, worker, it is your problem. There is a lot of other interesting stuff in the survey which is posted on the MPAAT web site, www.mpaat.org -- Jeanne Weigum 651-646-3005 fax 651-646-0142 _____________________________________________ NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul Archive Address: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/
