Maddox is correct about the Taste. I have tried to get
booth space on behalf of a political organization a
couple of years ago and he directly (and quite
clearly) said no politics. That was the end of that.
Now, I'm not exactly positive but I beleive that
individual candidates and representatives of
candidates or elected officials can by statute
advocate for their own candidacy without being
restricted.
It's sort of like the statute that allows them into
private apartment buildings to campaign, but the DFL
or GOP Party reps(non-elected officials) could not
buzz any apartment and demand to be let in for the
purposes of campaigning.
So maybe, just maybe Gerten has a point. There still
seems to be a double standard as non-liberal
causes/issues have been active within the Market. What
the Farmers' Market need is some consistency in
policy.
Of course with that kind of political openess, the
April 14th city council vote to take $100,000 from the
Neighborhood STAR program and grant it to the Farmers
Market may have had more than zero members voting
against it. Maybe.
