If Dennis' statistics are fact, then I question why we don't have a
total smoking ban in all public places. What the Mayor, Dan Bostrom
and the bar owners are saying is that they want to cater to the less
than 25% of the population that can't or won't stop smoking while in
a public place.

It says that they are confident that the more than 75$ of the
population will bow to their wishes.

I won't even attempt to go into what it says about how Dennis'
statement about how this has any bearing on hurting the poor.

Here's the REAL simple little fact: When governments attempt to
control the economy for the good of the people, they end up
controlling the people for the good of the economy. When you
consider that less than 25% of the people smoke, and 80% of those
who do smoke make less than $35,000 a year, what you have here is
not only tyranny of the majority over the minority, but the POOR
minority. What's next, no rap music on the streets because it's
harmful to the accoustic environment? (er, bad example), no junk
cars allowed on the streets because they pollute? Proves once again,
democrats in power hurt poor people.
