How true! Andy and I have sparred for years over various issues. At times he's been my antagonist, other times my conscience (and of course other times just wrong :-) . That's the thing about politics as well as friendship. There are times to disagree and times to debate facts and issues but when crunch time comes we hunker down and fight the bad guys together. >From our first strategy mtg to that memorable press conference at city hall where Andy and others threw down the gauntlet against the tobacco machine this has been a great period in st. paul's history. There aren't many times in the mundane world of local government where you can honestly say you made a lasting difference you can tell your grandkids about. That's what the elected officials who opposed the ban don't get. I can't imagine sitting on my rocker and telling my grandpuppy Neo ... "ah yes - back in '04 - that's when I cast the deciding vote that delayed clean air for a year or so..." Mmmmm - what a legacy. dave thune ward 2 st. paul _____________________________________________ To Join: St. Paul Issues Forum Rules Discussion Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _____________________________________________ NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul Archive Address: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/
