That's why I think we need to follow up on the work of the Governor's  
Education Finance Reform Task Force.  The core of standards-based reform is  to 
tie 
the dollars to the output.
 
What do what we want children to learn, when?
What staff/curriculum resources are needed, at what cost?
 
Then the accountability measures are supposed to monitor output - whether  or 
not students mastered the standards.

One of the things we wanted the NEAT Finance Committee to do was review the  
task force report in detail and look for opportunities to move forward at the  
local level, but we couldn't find enough people willing to do "committee  
work."  Wondering if budget cuts might stimulate interest.
