That's why I think we need to follow up on the work of the Governor's Education Finance Reform Task Force. The core of standards-based reform is to tie the dollars to the output. What do what we want children to learn, when? What staff/curriculum resources are needed, at what cost? Then the accountability measures are supposed to monitor output - whether or not students mastered the standards. The Task Force Report is posted at _http://cfl.state.mn.us/content/076429.pdf_ (http://cfl.state.mn.us/content/076429.pdf) One of the things we wanted the NEAT Finance Committee to do was review the task force report in detail and look for opportunities to move forward at the local level, but we couldn't find enough people willing to do "committee work." Wondering if budget cuts might stimulate interest. Any interested should contact Brian Joyce at (621) 291-7530 or [EMAIL PROTECTED] (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) --Jennifer Armstrong Payne/Phalen
