I'm one that thinks Superintendent Harvey is doing a great job, but let's just pay the money and be honest about it.

To prevent the $1000 from being taxed, at the 2005 rate of mileage reimbursement of 40.5 cents per mile, Superintendent Harvey will have to travel 2,470 miles per month. At a speedy 55 miles per hour, Ms. Harvey will need to spend nearly 45 hours a month in her car. Just pay her.

What does a monthly car allowance cover? are there specific things you can
spend it on? if you don't use it you give the balance back? Is this just a
way to give her an extra $12k without raising the dollars in her salary that
the papers reported?

i am not saying she doesn't deserve it. I just don't know what a monthly car
allowance entails and was hoping someone here knows.
