"The St. Paul school board on Wednesday gave Superintendent Pat Harvey a contract extension that includes a 2.8 percent salary increase in the first year and an additional $10,000 in deferred compensation.
The contract, which runs through 2007, will increase her annual base pay to $169,638 starting next April."

"In 2003, the average superintendent's salary in a district with fewer than 50,000 students was $164,681, according to data from the Council of Great City Schools. The group, a coalition of 64 of the nation's largest urban school districts, looked at salaries in its member districts.
About 80 percent of superintendents in the council's districts had benefits that included a car allowance. Harvey will continue to receive a $1,000 monthly car allowance in her new contract, as well as a monthly expense allowance of $600."
