It is a real concern for businesses like mine on the other side, should the
airport build a dike.

The Mississippi has flooded three times in the last twelve years.

A dike around Holman Field will only send that much more water over to us.
Which means, it will take us longer to recuperate and get our normal business
back on our feet.

So, for us who work across the river from Holman Field, the proposed dike is
not in our favor.

Myke,

I live in St. Paul on Concord Street very close to S. St. Paul on the lowest tier of the river bluff. On certain mornings there is a temperature inversion which keeps pollution close until it releases. On some mornings, when I get into my car in the garage I can taste the fuel from the jets in my mouth and smell it on my clothes.

In addition, the helicopters are deafening when overhead and some of the planes are very loud. This is worse, however, for people in the flight path.

How could this get potentially worse without the mayor having the decency to consider what is happening to all of us for the benefit of THE VERY FEW!

I just called the offices of representatives and senators that aren't even mine and their efficient aides have promised me that they would pass the information along that the idea of a bonding bill for the dike is a bad idea. Besides, even Bush is smart enough to see how bad these things are for rivers and his administration is working to reverse the harmful effects. For some reason some bad kizmit has happened: we have the most picturesque, bluffed floodplain in the country and also probably some of the most regressive politics right now as well. Let's make our voices heard.
