I think I know enough about what is happening to be pretty certain Senator Pappas is not the ultimate problem. The problem IS with Senator Langseth and his leadership (or lack thereof). Perhaps we should impress upon Dean Johnson via Matt Entenza that he not be reappointed as Capital Investment Committee Chair next time around.

But we need to keep the pressure up on our legislative delegation to make sure it doesn't get in EVER, and that the other items go back in. Unpleasant as that is, that is their responsibility, what we elected them for. Anything less won't do.

Sandy Pappas was at our meeting last night and she assured me that the Holman Field dike is out of the bonding bill and it won't come back. I said that I had heard that before, but she assured us that it was out.

She did also mention that the funding for Como Park and the biotech
investments (which were both in the Senate and House bills) both
"mysteriously" disappeared. They've got a good story (they're focussing
on the Minnesota Zoo and another biotech project) but I say if Kelly
threatened and it "mysteriously" happened then we need to start nailing
him up on this one. If it wasn't because of him then he should learn
not to make such rash threats.

She also mentioned that it was the Chair of the committee (who's name
escapes me right now) that put the dike in the bill.
