Please DON'T use abbreviations and acronyms without telling us what they mean. What does GSE mean?
I understand the frustration with abbreviations and acronyms and I do encourage people to be careful about how they use them. However, they are very unlikely to go away and for good reasons.
GSE = Gopher State Ethanol
GSE was the ethanol plant that was part of Minnesota Brewing at the old Schmidt's brewery on west 7th. GSE created a foul odor that plagued the West 7th neighborhood for about 2-3 years.
During that time, GSE plant was probably the most talked about topic in this forum. Typing GSE as opposed to Gopher State Ethanol is significantly faster - and given the hundreds of times per week, that the term was showing up in this forum (for several years) I can understand why folks would use the abbreviation. I can also tell you, that most people here, are way more familiar with GSE than they would like.
Most likely, anyone who doesn't know what GSE is - isn't going to know what Gopher State Ethanol is any better.
So, I'll continue to encourage folks to be careful about how they use abbreviations and acronyms. BUT, I also understand why folks do use them AND will encourage folks who don't recognize them, to simply ask.
Best wishes,
