An idea I have been advocating for years appears to be suddenly quite popular: The traffic circle, or roundabout:

Having grown up navigating a few in Coral Gables, I have long known that they are, in fact, the most efficient way of moving cars through an intersection. They can also be made very attractive, tho they do eat up a lot of land.
We'll see if it catches on at all. I hope so!
