I have to disagree. I think they could have popped over to Macy's and dressed her sharply for less than $150,000. In the current climate, with stories about how much AIG spends on lunches and company retreats, someone should have seen that kind of outlay as bad press before it happened. More than that, though, she's billing herself as an everyday working mom. Dressing sensibly would have been more on-message, and she would have been forgiven for not looking like Liz Taylor. Engaging in conspicuous consumption while trying to look fiscally conscious is a mis-step. Political agendas aside, someone isn't really doing their job over at McCain HQ. Republicans are being poorly marketed this time around, regardless of the issues.
