Sorry, I didn't follow the thread closely. > I don't want us to add support for time zones. At the risk of splitting hairs: I also don't want full timezone support. Only offset to utc. As I mentioned a few times, my old computer reported that and it has always irked me that this data wasn't stored. > I don't want us to add any of this complexity to our code. I believe that it is less complex than one might think. One can experiment, no? > I don't want to see how the code deals with having multiple dive computers > that may or may not have time zone data, have different time zone settings, > or whatever. I don't see the fundamental difference to two divecomputers with conflicting times? In both cases the user also has to intervene. For me personally, the two-computer usecase is more esoteric than the offset- to-utc usecase. In my vacation-diver-career I think I have only once seen someone with two divecomputers. > If your personal happiness depends on knowing what time zone your dive > computer thought it was in, add it as text in the extra info. But do not > start adding two (or more) conflicting time stamps to every dive. We already have one timestamp for the dive and potentially one for each computer. I don't see any significant change in that respect. There should be a flag "import timezone" in the download dialog. > I'll walk away from this conversation as it is bad for my mental health. Sorry.
