Sorry, I didn't follow the thread closely.

At the risk of splitting hairs: I also don't want full timezone support. Only 
offset to utc.

As I mentioned a few times, my old computer reported that and it has always 
irked me that this data wasn't stored.

I believe that it is less complex than one might think. One can experiment,

I don't see the fundamental difference to two divecomputers with conflicting 
times? In both cases the user also has to intervene.

For me personally, the two-computer usecase is more esoteric than the offset-
to-utc usecase.

In my vacation-diver-career I think I have only once seen someone with two 
divecomputers.

We already have one timestamp for the dive and potentially one for each 
computer. I don't see any significant change in that respect. There should be 
a flag "import timezone" in the download dialog.
