Yes, ^this^. There is value in storing the *literal* data about that which was obtained from the DC records, so that it is not lost for any future use we might want to put it to - but we don't need to wrap everything else in accessors or null-interpretations to be able to do that. We just need a field that can hold the information from any computer, current or not yet existing, with a clear and unambiguous "not set/not provided" value (which a 'zero offset' integer is not).
