I see that this is a duell, reply to all, or reply to one (to be or not to be, that's the problem). We, in Italy, in our mailing list came across this problem, we started with the reply to the list, but sooner we face that people (me too) in the hurry to reply, often sent private mails to all the list, and of course many member cry for this and the man who made the error got to feel miserable. So after long time of this continuous not wanted problem we decided to vote to change the command 'reply to the list' wit 'reply to the author', and this last choice won at last. Actually, we understood that not everytime a reply is useful for all members but only for the author of the message, so if you decide that your response may be useful for all members it is easy to put the address of the list inside the field Cc: (it's so easy). This way prevents error in sending private mails, sometime very private, and prevents that some one one day come up to cry you and thinking about you as a stupid kid unknowleged on the computer use, believe me it could happen. That's why I don't love the authomatic command 'reply to all'.
