Ideal, as it doesn't produce fumes like acid.  Don't leave it uncovered 
next to any precious metalwork however as there seems to be a vapour 
reaction over a long period.

The only trick is judging the pick-off moment.  Too wet and it might 
smear, too dry and the paint edge will flake.  I recall mentioning this 
when discussing tricks for multi-colour anodizing of aluminium some 
months ago.
