Dear John,

I may have to take another photo. In my platform, the gnomon rod extends through the base and is the pivot as well. In principle a circular section of a cone should work. I'll also post a schematic drawing of my platform.

best wishes,

Peter

Hi Peter,

One more image, of the pivot alone? Can't quite make it out in that second view. The rest is quite clear.

Question: Is it still a Poncet platform if it utilizes a cylindrical surface rather than a planar surface?

Best,
John B

Hi, I've tried to send a couple of small jpgs of my crude Poncet Platform, but they've been blocked by the server, too large. I may have to try in stages. best wishes, Peter ------------------------------------------------------------------------ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
