http://www.antike-sonnenuhren.de/fotosbyz.htm but, in most of them, your comment AND Roger's comment are BOTH right: YOU are right that the LINES are marked but these lines seem to run along the middles of the hours that one sees in Roger's picture. As ROGER says, it is the HOURS are marked! As a special case, the lowest point on many of these dials (the noon point) is half way between two lines. The two lines therefore approximately correspond to the middle of the 6th hour and the middle of the 7th hour hour. I think I need more information!
