Hi Karon,One easy alternative you might consider is something called "Gallery Glass" which is used to make temporary window decorations. It (and similar products) are usually available in craft shops. You can also purchase 'cames' (they call them 'redileads') to separate colours. When I made the one in the photo several years ago I laid out the cames over a printout of my vertical dial, itself placed under a 'leading blank'. After it has dried, you peel the dial off the blank and then simply press it against the window. My gnomon is made out of a thin sheet of lead, stuck on the outside of the glass with double-sided tape.
