I thought about a real SG dial but, that is beyond my SG skills at this point. It also means the final piece would either be exposed to the weather or would be in the house and have a larger gap between the sg and the style.
This plan is to paint on the actual window, itself. It will leave me, maybe 1-3 inches of open space I have to cover. The gnomon can be any reasonable distance from the dial plate, however, the style when extended must meet the dial center on the dial plate. 2. There are easy ways to affix a gnomon to glass. 3. Better still, make a real SG dial plate and gnomon. So, I can use the paper style to adjust the amount of material I need to leave off the bottom of the style to have the correct shadow. In effect, I am creating a floating style. What do you guys think. I wanted to check with folks who have done real stained glass and see if you think the floating style will work.
