Dear All, Patrick Powers has drawn my attention to the recent non-vote on the future of the Leap Second.
Those interested will probably already know that the vote that was planned for this week has now been delayed until 2015. If you Google... Leap Second Future or Leap Second Vote You will find more hits than you can cope with. The one with the best picture is: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2088798/Leap-second-Conference-bigges t-timekeeping-change-centuries.html?ito=feeds-newsxml There is a nice view of a sundial resting on a plinth but not bolted down. Could this be a Tony Moss or John Davis dial? The caption "...rendering sundials useless" is a little over the top in my view! The impression I get is that the Canadians, the Chinese and the British are in favour of keeping leap seconds but the French, German and U.S. authorities want to get rid of them. Would any French, German or U.S. contributors to this mailing list care to comment!!
