What are the problems with Linux NFS? I am running a cluster of mail servers on a NetApp filer on 2.6 kernel without any issues so far. It's not too busy at the moment (well, that's why it's a cluster!)

The two things that are preventing us to move to LINUX is full functionality. (non-smart card sessions, etc.) The other and more important is the complete lack of stability in the NFS kernel. We fight with the every day.

If Sun could work on replacing the NFS kernel so it works like it does on solaris, that would be a big help. ;-)

I think it's great that Sun is supportive of Linux, but I don't think
they should have to rewrite big chunks of it (like NFS).

Well, if Linux's NFS support was worth a damn, there'd be no motivation to replace it.

There are some parts of Linux that need serious help from "adult" software developers, and the Linux community would do well to accept that help from anyone willing to supply it...especially Sun where NFS is concerned, as they developed it in the first place.
