Not for display purposes... a Sun Ray does not run the desktop
environment any more than your video card does. The server runs the
environment, the Sun Ray only displays it.

Because CDE royally sucked, and GNOME was close enough to an
MS-Windows "look and feel" to allow people to migrate to it with ease.

Things will get better when they upgrade to the current GNOME
release... the memory management has been drastically improved to the
point that a coworker who upgraded from FC4 to FC5 was raving about
the performance boost for days. I wouldn't be able to tell, as I don't
use GNOME... I use WindowMaker (much lighter weight).
