Is there something special about this printer, i.e. that it
requires a particular app to print to it, or can it be serviced
by a standard Solaris Printer queue?

I have a locally-attached printer, assigned a printer
queue to it, and it works just fine, since the LP system runs
as root and doesn't care about the device ownership.

Quick question for the group:

I am trying to share a USB thermal label printer on one SunRay with everyone
on the SunRay network.
It works fine when I drill down to the actual device (/tmp/SUNWut/.../MAC
Address/ . . . . etc)
and do a chmod 666 on the device - now everyone can print to it.

But the moment that person logs off, power cycles the SunRay, etc; the
permissions are
reset and the printer is owned only by that local user.

Surely there is a way to do this that is simple. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Mike
