I will be implementing a 250 user VDI/SunRay environment for a client.
So I wanted to do some testing with the new Sun VDA Kit.
I have the client/service/tools installed, but I am a little confused on
configuring the service via the vda.properties file.
The first thing is the path format. All the examples have something
along the line of "/Datacenter/vm/Pool". I know what our datacenter is
called, I assume I replace Datacenter with that. Where does the rest of
the path come from? On the ESX service console, the path is
/vmfs/volumes/{shared storage}/{VMs}. Is this path releated? Or is the
path used something the VC API understands, which I know I sure don't.
The second thing is, how can you tie certain users(smartcard tokens), to
static VMs? I imagine the golden image and pooling will be used, but
there's going to be cases where exceptions or manual mapping will be
needed. I assume this data is kept in the MSDE database. I got a little
DB experience but not with any of MS products. I found the osql command,
but I can't seem to get SQL prompt. Does anyone know the login
information and anything else I would need to connect?
