Has this been given an official patch number? I went to sunsolve to
report the issue, but this client hasn't got a contract number and (as yet)
I don't have the serial number for the units - I was hoping I could report
it anyway - the fact the units are only two weeks old and are technically
broken should have allowed me to log it, but I just can't get past that
bloody web interface "enter your details" page.

Who did you buy the units from? Are they able to supply a patch to you?
