I think he means when you install a program say from blastwave, how do you get launcher icons for those programs setup on every users desktop. Personally I don't know the answer either. I imagine he means in the JDS Launch menu to be specific.

So say you install Firefox from blastwave, how do you get Firefox to show up in "Launch -> Applications -> Internet"  for all users.

Or say you install Gimp how do you change the launcher in "Launch -> Applications -> Graphics -> Image Editor" to launch the blastwave version of gimp for all users.

Still haven't figured this out myself on Solaris. I'm assuming he is running Solaris too, cause of the /opt question.

If that's not what he meant, I would still like to know the answer  :)

Though this seems more a question for the Solaris or a Linux users list, not really a Sunray question.

Hi,

how can i deploy links or software to all my users? As example.
If i install forefox or OpenOffice in /opt..... How do i provide this new
software to all users? Is there a mechanism into the Ray-Software?

I'm not sure what you mean.

All applications run on your server. The desktop image is then sent over
the network to the SunRay.

Nothing runs on the SunRay.

If you install an app on your server, it's there. Users can run it.
There's nothing special about SunRays in this respect - think of all the
SunRays as extra monitors/keyboards/... attached to the server.
