There is a way, however it is a system-wide setting. Unknown USB keyboards are reported with a Type code of 6 and a Layout code of 0. You can bind a different key table to the "6 0" combination in keytable.map: # diff -c keytable.map.SUN keytable.map.BBC | expand *** keytable.map.SUN Fri Feb 9 01:46:20 2007 --- keytable.map.BBC Mon Jul 14 16:07:19 2008 *************** *** 148,154 **** # # Type 6 Keyboards (USB Keyboards) # ! 6 0 US6.kt 6 4 Canada_Fr6.kt 6 5 Czech6.kt 6 6 Denmark6.kt --- 148,155 ---- # # Type 6 Keyboards (USB Keyboards) # ! #6 0 US6.kt ! 6 0 Germany6.kt 6 4 Canada_Fr6.kt 6 5 Czech6.kt 6 6 Denmark6.kt However, this will set _all_ "layout 0" keyboards to use German layout. In my case, I do not mind. Regards -- Volker -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Volker A.
