It used to sort of work, as long as you boot with the text console
afterwards.
But I haven't tried this in some time.
In my experience, it's a lot simpler to update the files you need to
manually:
/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname.<interface>
/etc/nsswitch.conf (and /etc/resolve.conf if you're using DNS)
/etc/nodename
Then reboot.
