I'm trying a Sunray 3 and the display flickers when at 1920x1200. It is
particularly bad when dragging a window but the display twitches all the
time, it's like it's using single buffering. Is there anything I can do
about this? See below for what I've tried, or is the 3 just not up to
1920x1200 and would a 3plus be better?
I've set "set hires_tick=1" in /etc/system and rebooted.
The DTU is plugged directly into a 1G port of an X2200M2 with 8x2.7GHz
CPUs, 64GB of RAM and a load average of 0.15.
I have read that the 3 needs special network settings and I've set the
DTU to full duplex auto negotiate and I've played with the network
settings via ndd, although I'm not sure what is optimum. utcapture shows
no packet loss.
Forcing the screen resolution to 1600x1200 with utresadm stops the
flickering. At 1600 performance is not as good as an XVR-600 (which
scrolls text too fast!) but perfectly adequate, at 1920x1200 it is like
going back to a CG3.
