I was trying to make a joke & point out how quickly we stray off topic IMHO ;-) I counted 9 posts on this topic and I don't think any of them addressed the G3 G4 difference directly pro or con ! We had talk about serial adapters and heard from the people who have more money then some of us or so it seems with this talk of buy a new machine it's a better value. I'm just pointing out no one had an answer to the question perhaps because none of us have used both a G3 a& G4 in our UMAX machines. It seems to be one or the other so can not compare the two.The below quote from your second post I think answers your question as to if the Carrier cards have any life in them. Yes, but speeds higher then 500 overclocked to maybe 550 mhz are in question. >From: Alan Kim <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: Re: [SM] G3 or G4? > > > >Will S wrote: > >But I can not be sure that 500mhz isn't the end of the line >for these cards. The mpe Carrier card version lets you use two G4 >cards for multiprocessing but these top out at 450mhz . I don't belive there is any limitation on The G4 other then the Chips maybe in short supply.
