I was trying to make a joke & point out how quickly we stray off
topic IMHO ;-) I counted 9 posts on this topic and I don't think any
of them addressed the G3 G4 difference directly pro or con ! We had
talk about serial adapters and heard from the people who have more
money then some of us or so it seems with this talk of buy a new
machine it's a better value. I'm just pointing out no one had an
answer to the question perhaps because none of us have used both a G3
a& G4 in our UMAX machines. It seems to be one or the other so can
not compare the two.The below quote from your second post I think
answers your question as to if the Carrier cards have any life in
them. Yes, but speeds higher then 500 overclocked to maybe 550 mhz
are in question.

Well MacGurus don't always carry the full line of upgrades and the G4
with a regular card is available from OWC but it has a third
party(OWC) ZiF on it. I don't belive there is any limitation on The
G4 other then the Chips maybe in short supply. So hope I haven't
again insulted anyone without meaning to ;-)
