Thanks Nancy;
You answered my question, and I apologise for being unclear in
stating my question which gave a wrong impression to others.

I was curious about Apple's statement that iTunes would only work on
machines with BUILT IN ( please excuse the shout) USB , thereby
diferentiating their new machines that come with USB Ports built in
from the older machines like my S900, that work just fine with USB
PCI cards. I have an XLR8 Dual Port PCI card in slot five.

I have seen that admonition elsewhere in relation with other software
and have been curious about Apple's definition of "built in". I
wondered if it was a statement from the Techs at Apple or Apple's
Sales department. Even the box my XLR8 card came in has G3
prominantly stated many places although if you look carefully it does
say UMAX.

The question has a link to <Re: [SM] OT Voice Recorders>, since I
will be setting the neighbors G3 up to accept interview data from the
Sony recorder. They bought the MZ-700. They also bought a Firewire
CDRW and OSX with OS9.2.1 which I installed last week. OS9.2.1 works
fine but OSX needs some work to get set up on line.

Thanks to all who responded, and I again apologize for being unclear.

Ernie
