Apple's DVD/CDROM extension does not support the CR-506. You need
an extension for 9.1 which does. You may purchase a third party
utility for this purpose such as Intech's CD SpeedTools or FWB's
CDROM ToolKit (the former gives free updates, the latter charges out
the wazoo). Or there is a hack to make the Apple extension work
with other CDROMs. There may be issues with the hack, such as lower
than optimum performance, but I haven't heard any real world
complaints. Or some list members have had good luck with the CDROM
extension that came with OS 7.6 (not 7.6.1). Apple let that one out
the door configured to support most CDROM drives.
