Well, there must be something going around with all this talk about 'Trouble with CD-Roms'. Now my 16X Teac, which has been working 'perfectly' fine in my s900, won't mount properly. I had merely removed it for an hour to try out a Panasonic that I thought might have been a cdr. I had also (stupid, stupid, stupid, at myself) placed a copy of the 9.1 Apple CD/DVD driver into the Extensions Folder after I made another failed attempt at installing 9.1 on a separate drive. I have since removed this extension upon being reminded of the 9.1 extension problem, and put the 8.6 extension back in, but to no avail. The damage appears done!
I've cuda'd, zapped, rebuilt, cable-ok'd, tried different extensions, nothing. What mine does is spin a bit, stop, spin some more, and then slowly mounts a cd. Unfortunately, this takes about 3 minutes, copying a (10 mb) file takes longer. So I too watch these cd/rom related threads intently for a fix.
