As a reminder regurgitated from my previous posts, when you introduce a firewire card into an S900, tweaking the throughput via HDST's controls for firewire drive may be the ticket to a stable read/write then trying different PCI slot configurations. In my case, the two settings are dropped down one notch from optimal. My MachFire is in slot 3 (because I want the Initio UW and Sonnet Tempo in the upper two slots).
