Hi there

I bought one of those 'Sony EZ Edit' firewire cards at Good Guys last summer.
Paid too much for it, but inside the card is branded 'Pinnacle' and comes with
a cut down version of their cheapest software. PC of course, but the card
worked perfectly with my Mac clone, a J700. I've used it with an iBot and a
JVC camcorder. I also have a firewire scanner, but the driver disk is $35 and
I don't have it :-( Its a Umax scanner, you'd think they'd stick the driver
for it on their site, but they want you to buy their crappy, system crashing
memory eating software along with it :-(

Its an Astra 6450 if anyone wants to hook me up with a driver ;-)

So, if you buy a PC card from Pinnacle it will probably work.

I also had an old Lynx firewire card with a TI chipset on it, and it worked,
but wouldn't initialize the iBot properly, I think it was a power problem as
the card had the small, 4 pin floppy drive power connector for powering the
bus-which J700s lack due to Apple's different floppy..

I'm using Z-Firewire2.4.smi from Apple, and it works fine. 2.3 had some
problems which 2.4 seemed to fix. There might be a 2.5 but since 2.4 worked
fine, I didnt' go any further.

Hope this helps

Bolton

PS it doesn't seem to matter which slot this card is in-it has worked in four
of the five slots in this machine (soon to be six :-)
