OK now, this is a mind blower I have going here.
I figured I'd go see if there were any firmware updates for the VST Ultratek
ATA/66 cards and it seems there is a Flasher v. 1.1.2 from SmartDisk, the
company that took over VST.
So I ran this update. Restarted my computer. Popped a 'Mac' formatted zip
into the drive. So it gives me the old "This Disk Is Unreadable, do you
want to Initialize it?". OK, nothing on the disk, why not, at least the
drive is getting recognized now. So I format it as Mac regular HFS. The
disk now shows up on the desktop, the Icon is a little different then I'm
used to (kind of looks like a peecee icon), but what the hey. I even drop a
few files on it and it copies them no prob.
So then I eject the (newly Mac Formatted) zip and put it in my scsi zip
drive as the test. Pretty simple right? Well it failed! Gives me the
"This Disk Is Unreadable, do you want to Initialize it?".
So what formatting monstrosity have I got going here? I get the feeling
I've got some form of Hybrid Zip now. Can someone help me rationalize this
a bit?

Here's the firmware update from SmartDisk in case anybody else needs it.
That is, if you dare... Naw, I'm sure I have an isolated incident.
