HELP :-( Any advice is welcome on this.
I had been running a 40 Gb maxtor on my tempo IDE card as my main startup disk on my S900/g3 450 upgrade - mac os 9.1 (it showed as scsi bus 2 ID 2). I had some problems, mostly related to tcp/ip connections it seemed and locked files that Intech's optimizer couldn't access. Well the Maxtor volumes all disappeared now. All I get are clicks when its trying to be accessed. I am on my work around back up hard drive on the original scsi bus, but I have no idea how long this will last. There are the usual complications: the cd rom boot issue (I have intech extensions) the pci slot issues (the tempo card is in 3rd slot after the ethernet card) the original I haven't removed it yet or anything or tried it in another machine like a recent G3 or something but I guess thats an option. How do I figure out if the header volumes are toasted or the whole device? The most crucial thing is I "NEED" the data on this maxtor. So.....suggestions.... I am heading off into new mac land after this I think, the last year has been too frustrating and I can't continue with work arounds on my main machine. Anyway....any suggestions would be welcome. I am in Canada....any one know where I can have this HD sent to recover all the info? Just in case? thanks in advance, tim -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
