Hi Ernie,

Go to versiontracker.com, or macupdate.com, and download "ProcessGuard 3.0".
Have it open and running as your using your computer, and when the weirdness
begins look through ProcessGuard's list and, one by one, quit background
processes to see which one might be the culprit. You may see process names
in the list that seems more likely to be taking over your processor and you
can quit those first. Otherwise, just quit them one at a time to see if,
after they quit, the problem goes away.

By the way, Nancy's suggestion about Sherlock should be your first thing to
check. If Sherlock isn't indexing your drive(s), and FileSaver isn't
running, then you can use ProcessGuard to dig a little deeper for the
culprit.
