Hi All!

This is just FYI because it took a long time to solve this, and maybe
theres someone out there who still has such problems.
Some months ago I posted my problems with the S900, a USB card and a Formac
ProTV card.
The ProTV doesnt work in the lower 3 slots when another card (e.g. the USB)
is installed there.

The setup was this:

(before adding USB)

1: Acard ATA 66 (with burner and HD)
2: Voodoo 3 2000
3: ProTV
4: -
5: -
6: -

(after adding USB)

1: Acard
2: ProTV
3: Voodoo (very slow in #3)
4: -
5: USB
6: -

System 9.1, 2x233mhz 604e.

This setup resulted in random freezes and errors and the Voodoo was extremly
slow in slot 3, so I opened the Umax twice a day, removing the TV card for
serious work and games, put it back in for TV. I even bought a self-powered
USB hub, but no change. After removing the ProTV (and not touching the other
cards), all was well, so it looked like a conflict between the ProTV and the
USB card.
Now, all the freezes turned out to be a multiprocessing problem which was
somehow related to the PCI cards. I upgraded to a Sonnet G3/450/1MB two
months ago and the system is fast and stable with this setup:

1: ProTV
2: Voodoo
3: -
4: Acard (fast enough here)
5: USB
6: -

I couldnt use the Acard in lower slots before because the cables were too
short to lead round the 2 CPU cards, but no problems now with the small
Sonnet card. I tried the 2nd PCI setup with just one 604e card, too, and had
no problems, so everything was just bad with 2 CPUs in use.
Both CPUs were good, according to multiprocessing tests.
I still dont know why theres a problem with 2 CPUs and the ProTV/USB
combination, but its solved now.

Sorry for the long post, but this was my main S900 problem and now Im
really happy with this machine (and I dont want a 9600 anymore)!!!
