If you control click on the link and chose 'download' from the contextual
menu that shouldn't happen. Try this and let me know.

FWIW, that shouldn't be the case if you use the 'Save to disk..' command in
the tool bar; it should save the file from the browser cache.

Sorry for the *red herring*; in my previous post I emended this to read
'PDFViewer', which is the correct file to look for.
