Well sorry things didn't go so well but after all it was your first 
install right? I've likely installed OSX 100's of times and it does 
get easier....
        First off I would have done a force restart when I found that 
i could only do an "Upgrade" install. Clearly something is wrong 
here. Things do sometimes go wrong right at the beginning or near it 
and it is best to start over rather then continue with a defective 
install. Which is likely why it took so long. It shouldn't take much 
longer then 45 min to an hour . You didn't mention what Video card 
you are using? Best of luck Will S
