OH! So That's how it works!!! "Must always use Xpostfacto to launch OS X". Gotcha. Well, I did and it worked.
I'm none too happy about the sacrifices we have to make for the new OS. The E 100 card was not too serious, but losing my Wacom 12x12 is!!! The Wacom OS 10 drivers only work with USB tablets! Arrrggh!! By the way, strangely enough the Pioneer Cd rom is working fine. Didn't work last night, today it is. I only tired it because the Yamaha would not mount more than one image on a multi session disc so I popped it into the Pioneer drive and voila! it mounted. I'm doing some installations from this now. More ram is definitely on the horizon as the poor old hard drive is working very hard to keep up with the demands of the OS.
